FL Div 2: McEntee points the way to Curraha win on home soil

Curraha welcomed Oldcastle to Joe Mc Dermott Park Curraha on Friday evening the 10th of May for Round 6 of the J.M Food Services League on a beautiful summer's evening which was perfect for football. 4 days on from Curraha's 6 point win over Dunshaughlin, Curraha were coming into this match knowing the points. on offer would send them joint second in the table with 8 points.
Padraic Coyle got the game under way at 7:45pm with a large crowd in attendance. Oldcastle got the first point of the match after a minute of play with a point from a free from CJ Healy. Curraha had to work hard for their first point of the match and it came after 4 minutes of play when Curraha won a 45 which James McEntee brilliantly converted. Both sides found it hard to get scores in the first half due to the very warm temperatures. James McEntee gave Curraha the lead after 7 minutes of play with a well taken point from play after some great build up. Oldcastle responded immediately though with a fine point from play from Keith Connell to level the game. Oldcastle went a point ahead when CJ Healy converted a point from a free with 10 minutes gone in the half. Oldcastle extended their lead to 2 when Garrett O'Reilly kicked over a fine point from play with 17 minutes remaining in the half. Curraha's Laim Hogan was called into action and produced a fine save to deny Oldcastle. James McEntee got Curraha's first point in almost 8 minutes when he converted a fine free off his right foot to leave it a 1 point game with 21 minutes gone in the half. McEntee leveled the game in the 28th minute when he sent over an excellent point from play.

Curraha's Diarmuid Moriarty won the throw up and gave the ball to his midfield partner Brian Joyce who ran at the heart of the Oldcastle defence and kicked a brilliant point after 25 seconds to give Curraha the lead. Oldcastle were unlucky not to get a goal minutes later with a fine effort just going wide. Oldcastle leveled the game after 8 minutes of play with a fine point from play from Keith Connell Curraha went 3 points ahead when Niall Murphy made a bursting run up the field who gave a one two with Seán Ronan. Murphy finished the ball to the back of the net with 10 minutes gone in the half. James McEntee gave Curraha a 4 point lead when he scored his 5th point of the match after 13 minutes of play. Oldcastle weren't giving up though and they got a fine point from play with 15 minutes remaining. McEntee again responded for Curraha with an excellent point from a free to push the lead out to 4. Oldcastle again responded with a well worked point from play. Curraha introduced Ben Heagney for Ruairí O’Sullivan with a quarter of an hour remaining with the heat taking its toll on both sets of players. James Cooke brought the deficit back to 2 with a fine point from play. Curraha's best move of the half came in the 22nd minute when a brilliant team move resulted in a goal. Gavin Coyles original shot was saved by Conor McHugh but the rebound fell to David Coyle who dispatched the ball to the back of the net with 8 minutes remaining. Oldcastle again responded and CJ Healy sent over a fine point from play. Oldcastle got 2 more points with 3 minutes remaining to leave 2 between the teams. Curraha introduced Cian Heagney for Gavin Coyle with minutes remaining. The Curraha players dug deep though and some great fielding from Diarmuid Moriarty and others alike kept Oldcastle from gaining possession. James McEntee sent over the insurance point for the Ha in the 30th minute to leave the final score

A brilliant win for Curraha who had to dig deep to get the win from a very good Oldcastle side. Curaha make it 3 wins in a row and their 4th in total in this year's league.
Curraha's first team are in action on Friday the 24th of May in Joe McDermott Park again for a meeting with Syddan with a 7:45pm throw-in.
Curraha's second team are in action before that though when they travel to Carnaross on Tuesday evening the 14th of May for a meeting with Carnaross in the Division 9 League with an 8pm throw-in.
